What is a Procedure?
A procedure is a set of steps that give you instructions to do something. You can make a procedure for things you do everyday, like how to brush your teeth!
But what makes a good procedure? - Having a title that will tell you what you are going to do/make - A list of materials you will need - Numbered steps of what to do IN ORDER - Pictures that show us what to do |

What are Transition Words?
Transition words are words that help us write a good procedure. When you use transition words, the instructions are much easier to follow and understand.
There are transition words for the beginning of a procedure (green), the middle of the procedure (yellow) and the end of the procedure (red). Can you think of different words you could add to green, yellow or red? |
So.....
Why do I need to know about Procedures?
We use procedures all the time! Can you think of a procedure you have done today? Example: I got dressed today. First I had to take my pajamas off, then I had to put jeans and a t-shirt on, lastly, I put socks on.
